from such a great height
Aaron
To be human is to be awkward, clumsy, limited, small, defenseless, hungry, thirsty, faulty, incapable, sickly, weak, and breakable (just to name a few). I am again in awe that God stooped down and became those things not only to save us, but also to understand us. How can we think that He does not care when, in an act of divine empathy, He stepped down from such a great height, miraculously reducing Himself to our lowly state of being? How can we think that he does not love us when He patiently endured the pains and sorrows of life through human skin, silently bearing the righteous punishment that we all deserved? How can we think that He isn’t involved in human affairs when He went to the most depraved and needy people and gave them His time, attention, and healing while denouncing the “religious” who showed no concern for the poor? He didn’t have to do any of those things, but He did. Truly He cared. Truly He still cares.
