who
What makes a man? What gives him worth? Is it his age? His accomplishments? What others think of him? Is it what he believes? Or is it something else? Does his value come from something outside?
I’m a Christian, of that I am certain. Am I a good Christian? I believe the question itself to be contradictory for a true Christian must admit that in themselves there is no goodness. But I could fill a whole library on what I am not, instead let me say what I am.
I am a son, a grandson, a great grandson (etc), a brother, a cousin, a nephew, an uncle, and a friend. I am an artist, a thinker, a reader, a writer, a traveler, an observer, a dreamer, and a believer. I am both servant and heir, both slave and free, both wise and foolish, both pure and impure, both stable and changing, both dead and alive. I am a person saved by grace through faith. I am all these things and more. And in this life I find that I am surrounded by a greatness that is completely outside myself. It is this greatness that awes and inspires me to write.
I realize that I’m often not saying anything new per se, but I hope I can at least say something true. New stuff all the time can even get old, yet the truth, however old, remains relevant. My goal is not to be a better writer than others but to be an effective writer. I hope that my words will motivate you, cause you to pause and reconsider, help you see things in a new light, lead you to a new appreciation of your surroundings, and reaffirm what you already knew to be true.
My name is Aaron Lambert, and these are my allusions of grandeur.
